A two-part series in which panel discussions will help explore succession planning and mentoring staff in public health.
Retirement, workforce turnover, and unforeseeable public health emergencies can all threaten an organization's performance. Public health practitioners across all levels must integrate professional development processes into both their short- and long- term planning. By investing in organizational development opportunities now, public health organizations will be better prepared for an uncertain future.
Part 1 of the webinar series will provide an overview of succession planning in organizational development and sustainability. The panelists will discuss strategies to recruit and retain strong staff and how best to transmit institutional knowledge to the next generation of public health professionals.
Public health professionals in governmental agencies, as well as public health and health practitioners in all settings, including nurses, health educators, managers, etc.
- Describe key elements of an effective succession plan for managers
- Recognize common barriers to succession planning and ways to overcome them
- Discuss strategies to assess performance and potential of current/future staff
