COVID-19 has worsened many long-standing inequities across the nation. Indigenous communities have been fighting for change and justice across many social, economic, and environmental inequities for decades. This webinar will feature Indigenous leaders from across the country who are centering re-Indigenization, a process intended to promote community healing that centers the distinct social and cultural experiences of American Indian people.
Public health professionals in all settings, including governmental public health, non-profits, health systems, etc. as well as across disciplines, whether health education, nursing, environmental health, leadership, etc.
- Provide an overview of the impacts of and opportunities created during COVID-19 on/in Indigenous Communities
- Describe "Re-indigenization" as a power building approach and provide examples of this work during COVID-19
- Describe how public health allies can partner with Indigenous communities within and outside of reservations to build power in the long-term
