March 15 @ 12-1:30 PM ET - Session 1: Story of Now: The State of Public Health Leadership

March 29 @ 12-1:30 PM ET - Session 2: Story of Self: Why Adaptive Leadership

April 12 @ 12-1:30 PM ET - Session 3: Story of Us: Navigating Changes to Team & Partner Dynamics

This discussion-based training series will provide an opportunity for governmental public health managers and leaders to build a network of peers and reflect on skills needed to support themselves, their teams, and their partners in navigating leadership transitions. There will be a communication and storytelling focus (Public Narrative: Self, Us, and Now framework), as well as an emphasis on trauma-informed leadership, in order to equip practitioners to effectively lead through change and urgent challenges. Sessions will include a mix of presentations, small-group breakouts, and large-group discussion. The series consists of three 90-minute live sessions, along with asynchronous pre- and post- work.

Audience

Mid-level managers and leaders in governmental public health and healthcare, including nurses and public health nurses 

Learning Outcome

At conclusion of the educational activity, participants will self-report knowledge gain of effective communication and leadership styles using a 4-point Likert scale.

  • Describe change management and adaptive leadership
  • Identify strategies to continuously learn and adjust in their leadership role
  • Anticipate the needs of team members and partners during times of transition
  • Describe how to engage individuals, teams, and partners to achieve program and organizational goals
